The National Claims Research Planning Committee invites you to the 27th Annual National Claims Research Workshop at the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. The October 22nd, 23rd & 24th conference will be held at The Gathering Place, 2593 Chiefswood Road, Six Nations of the Grand River.
The annual workshop assembles experts from all regions of Canada to share information regarding recent developments in information management, oral history, legislative initiatives and case law that directly impact research, development and resolution of specific claims. The workshop features a number of specialized sessions delivered over 3 day period by invited speakers who are experts in their respective fields. It is a wonderful opportunity for professional development, networking, sharing information and staying informed. Typically, over 100 First Nations researchers from across the country attend.
Six Nations of the Grand River will be planning a Tour and a Banquet which will showcase and highlight Six Nations’ culture and history in the region.
This year’s workshop will contain 2 days (October 22, 23) of information and research sessions to assist Researchers and First Nation Research Departments on addressing the issue of “What has changed in resolving Specific Claims and how do we make changes to the Status Quo?”
The third day (October 24) will be an AFN led Engagement Session to hear from First Nations and Claim Researchers regarding an Independent Claims Resolution Process.
The number of spaces is limited at the Workshop and Banquet so we ask those wishing to participate to pre-register before October 2, 2019. The Planning Committee may stop registering new participants when a maximum number of participants are reached.
